One of the initiatives of tiger, tiger was to provide Perth café-goers with a refreshingly different outlook as they enjoy their wonderful FIORI coffee made by Clare and Jackson.

We thought that by constantly changing the look of tiger, tiger would keep everyone keen! Thus the series of ‘mural walls', which we change every six months.

The initial mural wall featured a design lifted from a Belgian matchbox, circa 1921. The playfulness of the matchbox really appealed to us; we wanted a sense of fun, leisure, but of sustenance too. The image of yellow tents across the wide wall suggested to us something of the idea of sitting down in front of a campfire, enjoying a chat and a hearty feed! The play-on-words ‘safety matches' appealed to us too!

Perth Creatives Playgroup provided us with the second mural wall - a photo essay of the famous New York amusement park, Coney Island.

Photographer Christian Blanchard's series captured the frivolous nature of the US institution, with the larger-than-life element wonderfully represented in the mural wall photos! We are particularly fond of the photograph of the underside of the ‘Pirate Ship' ride!!

Check Jackson's spin on Lou Reed's classic lament to love, Coney Island baby.

For Braydon's memorable and macabre amusement park tale of The People that Grinned Themselves to Death.

With mural wall three, tiger, tiger really let go of all our aesthetic inhibitions, passing the decorative baton to the wildly creative Ornament collective, a band of Fine Art students from Perth's Edith Cowan University. And what a magical result! A crazy eight-panel work featuring just about everything - exotic botanicals, pipe-puffin' earthworms, bunches of oranges, pots of paint, robots and aliens, witches' hats and trippy mushrooms! A work that deserves hours and hours of observation, wherein every glimpse reveals something new!
